Gillian Anderson

 

ga50.jpg (24581 bytes)Anderson's love of theater began in high school, when she participated in community theater productions.  Later, Anderson studied with the National Theatre of Great Britain at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and then at the Goodman Theater School at Chicago's DePaul University, where she obtained her B.F.A. degree.

Anderson has gained recognition as an actress for her off-Broadway performance in Alan Ayckborne's "Absent Friends" at the Manhattan Theater Club, for which she won a Theatre World Award.  She also appeared in Christopher Hampton's "The Philanthropist" at the Long Wharf Theater.

Now the recipient of two SAG Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series, Gillian Anderson's first big break came when she was cast in a starring role in FOX's THE X-FILES in September 1993.

Anderson's feature film credits include "The X-Files," "The Mighty," and "Hellcab." She has recently starred in "Playing by Heart" with Sean Connery and Madalyn Stowe.  She is currently filming "The House of Mirth" in Glasgow Scotland.

Anderson resides in Los Angeles with her young daughter Piper.

Ms. Anderson repeated and took home the 1997 SAG Award for 'Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series' for the role of Special Agent Dana Scully on the TV series 'The X-Files.'

Saturn Award -- This is a Sci-fi award and yes Gillian grabbed the honors for 1997 in the best female catagory

TV Critics Nomination -- Gillian was the only female cited in the 1997 Critic Nominations for exellence in TV
