PARENTS: Allegedly Russian Cold War refugees.

Description: The story of Alex Krycek(Nicholas Lea) started out with his admiration for Agent Fox Mulder. In the episode "Sleepless", he gained Mulder's trust and even adopted some of Mulder's wit to try to get closer to him. It was discovered that Krycek was really working for the Cigarette-Smoking Man when he told him that the assignment of Scully and Mulder into different divisions had not stopped their partnership. He also revealed to him that Scully was more dangerous to the government's secrets than the Smoking Man had thought. He was involved in the abduction of Agent Scully in the episodes "Duane Barry" and "Ascension", but was exposed as a traitor to the Bureau and left for the underground.

This caused him to be a lot more dangerous and he subsequently killed Mulder's father and made Mulder out to be the killer. His failed attempt to kill Agent Scully ended up in her sister Melissa being gunned down. He then ambushes Walter Skinner and acquires a digital tape containing data about the government's coverup of extraterrestrial visitations. The Smoking Man tries to set up a trap with the purpose of having Krycek killed, but Krycek survives and vows to take out his revenge.

He escapes the country with the tape but runs into Mulder in Hong Kong, now possessed by the very alien whose secrets he has been selling. The alien uses him to make a deal with the Smoking Man which results in the return of the extraterrestrial being to his ship. While this is fine for the alien, it leaves Krycek trapped in a missile silo in North Dakota. He gives Mulder information about a covert group in the fourth season episode "Tunguska", and joins him in his search for a mysterious rock.

This leads them to Russia, and where they are captured in the episode "Terma". Krycek is friendly with his captors and they seem to know him well, but Mulder escapes and forces him to come along. Then Krycek escapes Mulder and runs into the forest, where he is met by a group of men, who have all lost their left arm. While he sleeps, the men cut off his left arm in order to save him from being poisoned by a toxin injected in his arm. He was seen with a Russian assassin who he had ordered to kill the Americans involved with the "black worm" rock.

After months in Russia, Krycek appeared in the episode "The Red and the Black", as the leader of a Russian alien recovery team investigating a mass killing by aliens. He took away a witness, Dmitri, and infected him with the "black cancer". He took Dmitri in a boat headed for New York, but Marita Covarrubias encountered him. She took away Dmitri as The Well-Manicured Man confronted Krycek. Later, he went to Mulder and told him that the mass killings were not a government conspiracy and wished him luck on his quest.

In the season six episode "S.R. 819", Krycek was responsible for the near-death of AD Skinner by using a remote control to make a mass of microscopic robots (that somehow got into Skinner's blood) block Skinner's arteries. In the episodes "Two Fathers" and "One Son", Krycek was clearly back on the side of the Smoking Man and the Syndicate, killing a faceless alien and giving information to Agent Spender (the Smoking Man's son).
